The Philadelphia Eagles released running back Kerryon Johnson from injured reserve with an injury settlement, ESPN reported Thursday.
The Eagles had claimed Johnson off waivers from the Detroit Lions in May. But Johnson, 24, battled a knee injury over the summer.
Philadelphia waived/injured Johnson on Aug. 17 before Thursday’s move, which is designed to let Johnson return later this season if he signs with another team.
The 2018 second-round draft pick played 34 games (16 starts) over three seasons with the Lions and gained 1,225 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns along with three receiving scores.
