The Philadelphia Phillies designated right-hander Vince Velasquez for assignment on Saturday amid a slew of roster moves.

Velasquez, 29, who was on the injured list because of blister issues, is now headed toward waivers although he could remain with the Phillies if he is not selected by any major league team.

In other moves, outfielder Matt Joyce was reinstated from the 60-day injured list after recovering from a back injury, while right-hander Adonis Medina and outfielder Mickey Moniak were recalled.

To clear space on the active roster, the Phillies optioned right-handers Enyel De Los Santos and Ramon Rosso to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, while outfielder Travis Jankowski was placed on the 10-day IL with a right foot contusion.

Velasquez was 3-6 with a 5.95 ERA in 21 appearances (17 starts) this season. He is 31-41 with a 4.88 ERA over seven seasons, six with the Phillies.

Joyce, 37, had just five hits in 50 at-bats for the Phillies this season and is a career .242 hitter over 14 major league seasons.
