Philadelphia Phillies’ Andrew McCutchen, Vince Velasquez land on IL

The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Andrew McCutchen and right-handed starting pitcher Vince Velasquez on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Philadelphia also reinstated catcher Andrew Knapp from the paternity list and recalled right-hander Enyel De Los Santos from Triple-A Lehigh Valley ahead of Monday night’s game against the host Washington Nationals.

McCutchen, 34, has inflammation in his left knee and his designation is retroactive to Sunday. The five-time All-Star is batting .234 with 20 homers and 58 RBIs in 98 games this season.

Velasquez, 29, has a blister on his right middle finger and his designation is retroactive to Saturday. He is 3-6 with a 5.95 ERA in 21 games (17 starts) in 2021, with 85 strikeouts in 81 2/3 innings.

Knapp, 29, is hitting .159 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 48 games this season.

De Los Santos, 25, has made 15 relief appearances for Philadelphia this year. He is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA.
