Report brings concerning update on 76ers star Joel Embiid’s ‘cure-all procedure’ quest to fix dodgy knee

A new report has offered up fresh details on Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid’s journey to fix his battered left knee once and for all. And unfortunately there is nothing good.

There is no denying Joel Embiid’s gifts on the basketball court. The third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft is a player that uses classic big man techniques and blends them with the modern era style of play. He is one of the few stars of today that actually would hold up well if he was put in a time machine and sent back to the golden era of centers to face Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, Dikembe Mutombo and Shaquille O’Neal.

Well, that is if he’s healthy. Embiid will go down as one of the very best big men of his era. But from the moment he entered the league, his body has been the only thing that has been able to consistently stop him on the court. A few years ago, when he played 66 and 68 games in consecutive seasons, it seemed like he had finally defeated his injury woes.

However, over the past two years, his injury demon has returned with a vengeance. Leaving many to question if he can ever recapture the form that made him the NBA MVP two seasons ago. The seven-time All-Star is currently sidelined due to another issue with his problematic left knee. On Thursday, NBA insider Jake Fischer offered up an update on what’s happening with Joel Embiid and if more surgery could be on the way for the Sixers star.

Fischer claims that the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to reveal some sort of resolution soon on the next steps they and Embiid will take to address his latest knee issues. The 30-year-old has reportedly seen over 10 different doctors to get their opinions on what can be done to overcome the constant issues with the joint.

“According to those with knowledge of the situation, Embiid is still hoping for some sort of cure-all procedure that would allow him to return to his MVP form,” Fisher writes. “Heading into this week, however, neither the Sixers’ own medical staff nor any of the external doctors consulted throughout this saga had been able to pinpoint a clear-cut pathway to steering Embiid in his desired direction.”

The NBA insider points out, if there was an obvious fix, it would have been used by now. At this point it looks like Embiid’s knee issues will be a consistent problem the rest of his career. Whether he has surgery to address this latest problem or not.
