Paul George to Return to the Pacers Sunday

Paul George

Currently 33-43 on the season and 1.5 games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the Indiana Pacers are going to get a tremendous boost with the return of Paul George against the Miami Heat on Easter day.

George suffered a gruesome leg injury as a member of Team USA last summer. Focusing on returning during the season, the All-Star has been putting himself through a vigorous rehab program.

George, 24, is considered one of the best young players in the Association. He averaged 21.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game en-route to leading Indiana to the Eastern Conference Finals last year.

The recovery has been a long process and this is another step in the process,” George said about his return, via Pacers official website. “I thank everyone, my family, friends, doctors, our training staff, coaches, the entire Pacers’ family for their support and encouragement. I’m excited, but at the same time I’m aware I’m still in a rehab stage and will continue to work to get back to full strength.”

Despite being 10 games under .500, Indiana still has a realistic shot at earning the final playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. Its 1.5 games behind Miami, who the team plays Sunday, for the final spot. The Boston Celtics are also a half game ahead of Indiana for the ninth spot.
