Paul George defends Russell Westbrook after blockbuster trade

The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off a massive trade early Saturday morning, sending Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari and a whole host of draft picks.

With the trade seemingly coming out of nowhere, people were speculating that the relationship between George and Russell Westbrook had hit the rocks.

Several hours after the blockbuster was initially reported, George took to social media to defend his former teammate.

This was followed by reports that Westbrook and George did not have a falling out during their two years together with OKC.

Instead, the opportunity to team up with Kawhi Leonard in his native Los Angeles seemed to be more attractive long-term than remaining in Oklahoma City.

As it relates to Westbrook, there’s a good chance the Thunder look to trade him and start anew with a rebuild.

What a crazy past 24 hours around the NBA.
