The long-awaited debut of Josh Gordon in a New England Patriots uniform will have to wait at least another week.
Mere days after trading for the former All-Pro wide receiver, New England has listed Gordon as inactive for Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Lions.

Gordon had been dealing with a hamstring injury since prior to his trade from the Cleveland Browns.
He suffered the injury during a PR event that was not sanctioned by the Browns, leading to a further rift between the wide receiver and his former team.
It’s no real surprise that Gordon is inactive here. He was reportedly working more on the side than in practice over the past several days. That seemed to be a clear indication Gordon wouldn’t be active.
From a Patriots perspective, this makes a ton of sense. They don’t need the talented receiver in September. They need Gordon to be healthy and ready to go as the season progresses.
