Patriots favored to win Super Bowl LIII

The New England Patriots will spend a little time moving past their loss in Super Bowl LII to the Philadelphia Eagles, but oddsmakers have the AFC powerhouse leading the charge next season.

Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic shared the initial odds presented by Bovada, and the Patriots have league-best 5/1 odds.

That doesn’t come as a surprise by any means, since New England has reached the Super Bowl eight times in the last 17 years. Getting there is half the battle, and the Pats boast a near 50-percent success rate in that regard this millennium.

New England has several questions to answer on the coaching staff, since offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is headed to the Indianapolis Colts and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will lead the Detroit Lions next year.

But as long as Tom Brady is healthy and Bill Belichick on the sideline, the Patriots will receive — and they deserve — the benefit of the doubt.

Philadelphia and the Green Bay Packers are closely behind at 9/1, while the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers hold 12/1 odds. The Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints are all at 18/1.
