Patrick Mahomes blasts Kareem Hunt: ‘We don’t do those things’

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs earned their 10th win of the season with a 40-33 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. This keeps the team on track to be the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

But the backdrop here was more sobering than a simple football game. Sunday’s win came mere days after Kansas City released Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt following the release of a video that showed the running back shoving and kicking a woman back in February.

For a Chiefs team with Super Bowl aspirations, this incident was about as real as it gets. Not only is Kansas City without one of its best players, Hunt’s former teammates are forced to talk about the uncomfortable dynamic of domestic violence within the NFL.

Following his team’s win over Oakland, quarterback Patrick Mahomes absolutely blasted Hunt. In the process, he made sure to note where he stands on the video in question.

“I saw the stuff that happened,” Mahomes said Sunday evening, via ESPN “We don’t do those things.”

Despite being a 2017 classmate of Hunt, Mahomes didn’t mince his words here. He knows full well that what we saw from Hunt on video is not acceptable. And he was not about to defend it.

We’ll certainly give Mahomes credit for being on the right side here. Friday’s news had to be a massive blow to him. Despite this, he turned in a four-touchdown performance against the Raiders and acted the part of a stand-up man following the game. Good on Mr. Mahomes.
