New to the Carolina Panthers this season is former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Jarius Wright. Wright arrives to the Panthers along with his former offensive coordinator, Norv Turner, who Carolina hired this past January.
Speaking about his experience with Turner, Wright had this to share:
“I feel I could teach Norv Turner’s offense to a baby,” Wright said, per Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer.” “I know every aspect of it,” “I know how he wants everything run. If Norv forgets something, he can just come ask me.”
The Panthers brought Turner in to help improve an offense that ranked 19th in yards gained in 2017. Beyond signing Wright, the Panthers also signed Torrey Smith to assist quarterback Cam Newton in his passing game. Newton passed for only 22 touchdowns last year, which tied for the 18th-lowest in the league.
The Panthers also drafted wideout D.J. Moore from Maryland in the first round. To learn the ropes, Moore would benefit from chatting with Wright about his knowledge of how Turner runs an offense.
As for Wright, he is currently listed as a No. 4 receiver on the Panthers’ depth chart. Perhaps his inside knowledge will help him work his way up the ranks.
