Panthers QB Cam Newton misses another practice

Only six teams since 1980 have started a season 0-3 and ended up earning a playoff spot. That’s the situation the Carolina Panthers and eight other squads face heading into this week’s action.

Unfortunately for the Panthers, it sure looks like they’ll have to run Kyle Allen out there against the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday.

Cam Newton missed Tuesday’s practice after he re-aggravated a foot injury the former MVP suffered during the preseason. According to various reports, Newton remained sidelined from practice on Wednesday.

This isn’t necessarily too much of a surprise. Newton was seen in a walking boot following Wednesday’s practice. That’s a clear indication he’s questionable, at best, for Sunday’s game.

Given that the oft-injured signal caller is absent from mid-week practice, it’s hard to fathom him being ready for Week 3.

Thus far this season, Newton has looked nowhere near 100 percent. He’s completing just 56 percent of his passes with zero touchdowns and one interception through two games. A week off might be best for Newton.
