Padres Triple-A affiliate already broke team record for homers in season

As the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, have shown, the power boom of baseball is hitting the Minor League game as well.

Jose Pirela launched a third-inning home run in Wednesday’s game. That was the team’s 180th home run of the season, already breaking the team record from two years ago.

That’s staggering.

The Chihuahuas broke that record in less than 60 percent of the games that it took them to reach it.

Clearly, this isn’t just a new generation of players, either. This record was only two years old and it was completely obliterated.

Seeing stuff like this, it’s awfully hard to deny the argument that the balls are juiced.
