Packers interested in bringing Eddie Lacy back in 2017

Despite an injury-plagued past couple seasons for running back Eddie Lacy, the Green Bay Packers apparently want to see him return to the team in 2017.

This is tremendous news for Lacy who put up a total of 360 rushing yards and zero touchdowns in five games this past season before injuring his leg. It represented Lacy’s fourth season with the team, and was by far his least-productive performance with Green Bay.

Of course, the impending free agent could choose to explore other options if he feels inclined to do so.

In his first two years with the Packers, Lacy produced at a high level, rushing for over 1,100 yards each season to go with 20 touchdowns.

Back in 2015, conflicting reports came about suggesting Lacy’s weight was an issue. That could have led to his downfall with Green Bay.

Lacy was drafted by the Packers in the second round in 2013. Because of the severe drop in his production during is last two seasons, he likely will not get the contract he would have based on stellar performances in 2013 and 2014.

Lacy is featured in our list of NFL stars desperate for a bounce-back year in 2017. Whether he will have that opportunity with the Packers remains to be seen.
