All hope seemed lost for the Pac-12 2020 college football season in August when the conference suspended fall sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, just over a week after presidents voted to bring sports back, we have a Pac-12 football schedule.
While the Pac-12 might be far behind other Power 5 conferences, with the SEC, ACC and Big 12 already playing, fans of each program will just be happy to see players return to the gridiron. While the first kickoff is still over a month away, there was a new reason for excitement on Saturday.
Pac-12 releases conference-only college football schedule
The Pac-12 has been following the Big Ten’s footsteps, the first Power 5 conference to suspend fall sports over fears of student-athletes’ safety. Once the Big Ten announced its return and released its 2020 schedule, the Pac-12 followed quickly behind.
Big Ten football schedule: Eight-game schedule for every team
In a statement on Saturday, the Pac-12 officially revealed its six-game, conference-only football schedule for the 2020 season. It will all begin on Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. PST when the Arizona State Sun Devils face the USC Trojans on FOX in the “Big Noon Kickoff” game.
The Pac-12 Championship Game, which will be held at the stadium of the division champion with the best record, will be played on Friday, Dec. 18. It was originally scheduled to be played at Allegiant Stadium, but plans changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rivalry games for all North division programs will occur in the Pac-12’s Week 4 on Nov. 27. Meanwhile, South division teams will face their rivals in Week 6 on Dec. 11.
