Sunday’s game between the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles featured a rain delay. After the delay, Baltimore shortstop Manny Machado was pulled from the game.
Machado is out of the game. Peterson at 3B. Beckham at SS. Obviously eyebrow raising at this juncture after the rain delay.

Normally, a mid-July game between two last-place teams wouldn’t draw much attention in the social media world. But given how constant Machado trade rumors have been and that the most recent reports have indicated that a deal is close, this move did not go ignored.

Ultimately, though, this was just a precautionary measure. With the wet field, the Orioles didn’t want to risk playing Machado and having him get hurt, thus damaging his potential trade value.
Source: Machado has NOT been traded. Infield sloppy after rain delay; that’s why he was pulled. #Orioles exercising abundance of caution.

But it’s good to know that Twitter is paying attention. Sunday can be considered good practice for when the trade actually happens.
