Official who worked CAA tournament game tests positive for coronavirus

An official who worked a CAA Men’s Basketball Championship has tested positive for COVID-19, the Colonial Athletic Association announced Thursday.

The league issued a statement on the matter, noting the official did not exhibit symptoms of the coronavirus until 72 hours after the game he worked.

The CAA noted that it has informed the involved institutions (not naming them) and tournament personnel aware of the situation so they can take proper precautionary measures.

This stunning development comes just minutes after the NCAA announced that the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, along with other winter and spring championships, have been cancelled.
