Nuggets could make play to bring back Andre Iguodala, per report

Once his trade to the Memphis Grizzlies becomes official this weekend, former NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala is going to be a highly-coveted player.

Initial indications were that Memphis would buy Iggy out afte acquiring him from the Golden State Warriors.

With at least one team interested in trading for him, that no longer appears to be the case. Memphis will look to flip Iguodala for other assets.

We can now include the veteran’s former Denver Nuggets squad as a team potentially interested in acquiring Iguodala.

“The Nuggets expect to introduce the promising Michael Porter Jr. this season after winning the West’s regular-season title — and are said to be interested in making an ambitious play to bring Iguodala back to Denver if Iguodala can extricate himself from Memphis,” The NY Times Marc Stein wrote in his newsletter.

Iguodala, 35, suited up for the Nuggets in 2012-13 before signing a free-agent deal with the Warriors.

Despite limitations on the offensive end of the court, the former All-Star remains a tremendous two-way player. He can run things on offense and is elite out on the perimeter on defense.

The biggest issue here is Iguodala’s bloated $17.2 million cap hit for next season. Denver would have to find a work around in that regard.
