The longtime rivalry between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer was on the grand stage once more Sunday during the Wimbledon Men’s Final.

The two legends put on a spectacular show that saw the 37-year-old Federer force a fifth set in dramatic style.

The rivals went after one another with clutch shot after clutch shot, resulting in multiple deuces and broken serves.

It had to go to a tiebreaker, too. Djokovic and Federer broke each other’s serves multiple times, and at 7-7 in the final set the tension was palpable — both for the players and the crowd.

Then, Federer did this:

Yet Djokovic wasn’t ready to give up the fight. He proceeded to break Federer’s serve, coming back from a 40-15 hole, and the match continued to grind as the shadows crawled across Wimbledon’s Centre Court.

During the historic tie-break, Djokovic finally pulled through to end it, winning his fifth Wimbledon title.

The drama that unfolded had the sports world in awe.

This fan perfectly summed up our feelings on this storied rivalry, which unfortunately will come to an end sooner than anyone wants to admit.

Folks, we may never see a match that rivals what Djokovic and Federer did on Centre Court at Wimbledon Sunday. It was truly legendary, which is fitting considering the history between these two legendary stars.
