Noah Syndergaard doubles down on criticism of Mets manager

Things are not getting any better between ace starter Noah Syndergaard and New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway.

Syndergaard took to the Mets’ brass over the weekend to note that he’s unhappy about the team continuing to use Wilson Ramos as his catcher.

One day later, Callaway responded by indicating that you can’t make everybody happy. This all stems from Syndergaard struggling on the bump with Ramos catching for him.

In talking about the situation ahead of New York’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Syndergaard doubled down on his criticism of Callaway.

Noah was asked about deGrom getting a personal catcher (Mesoraco) last year:

"Watching what those two did last year was watching Bob Ross painting. Everything was calculated and artful.”

But isn't that same as him wanting one?

It’s is true that deGrom had himself a tremendous relationship with Mesoraco last season. In fact, he pitched to a 1.60 ERA and held batters to a .193 average in 21 starts with Mesoraco behind the backstop.

This season has seen Syndergaard boast a 5.09 ERA in 15 starts with Ramos catching for him. For comparison’s sake, he owns a 2.45 ERA with Tomas Nido behind the plate.

The frustration seems to be warranted.
