Competing in the RBC Canadian Open was already a special experience for Winnipeg native Nick Taylor, but little did he know he’d have an unforgettable moment he and much of the golf community will never forget on Sunday afternoon.
Entering a playoff duel with Tommy Fleetwood that would last four holes, Taylor’s eventual win came not only with tons of fanfare but also the longest putt of his career, a 72-foot game-winner.
Here’s the winning putt.
And you thought your putting game was strong. Not as strong as Nick Taylor’s.
Taylor’s victory makes him the first Canadian citizen to win Canada’s national open since 1954 and the first born in Canada since 1914. Pat Fletcher won in ’54, and Karl Keffer won in ’14.
By taking home the trophy at the RBC Canadian Open, Taylor now has three PGA Tour wins, but obviously, this one was most memorable for several reasons.
