It’s already an accomplishment when an NHL team is able to extend one of its best players to a long-term deal. The manner in which the Dallas Stars announced an extension with center Tyler Seguin is even more incredible.

On Thursday, Dallas announced signed the five-time All-Star center to an eight-year extension in an amazing Nintendo-themed video

In the video, Seguin takes out a series of opponents until he defeats the final boss with a hockey puck, then is rewarded with an eight-year contract.

The new deal carries an average annual value of $9.85 million. Seguin has posted 70-plus points in each of his last five seasons with the Stars. The 26-year-old set a career-high with 40 goals last season.

Hopefully, the Stars have even more Nintendo-themed announcements coming soon. They celebrated an extension with their star player in a perfect way and sports fans deserve more videos just like this.
