When stand-up comedian Will Burkart took the stage at Wiseguys Town Square last weekend, he probably didn’t expect to randomly call on an NHL player during his crowd work segment. Likewise, Vegas Golden Knights forward Reilly Smith probably anticipated a relatively uneventful night out.

Fate, however, had other ideas. And thus, a viral internet video was born.

“What’s your name, sir?” asked the unassuming Burkart.

“Reilly,” Smith answered.

“Do you work during the week?” Burkart asked.

Smith, ever humble, grinned sheepishly. “Not in the summer.”

“Are you a teacher?”

“I’m not.”

“You’re not, silly me for assuming,” Burkart responded. “What kind of job do you have?”

“Hockey!” another audience member called out.

“Uh, I’m a hockey player,” Smith admitted.

“Who do you play hockey for?” Burkart asked. “Is this like a– how high are we?”

Once again, an audience member provided the answer: “Very high.”

The crowd reacted accordingly, cheered, and broke into a “Go, Knights, Go!” chant. Burkart paused to let it die out.

“I’m honored that you’re here, bro,” Burkart said. “I just got nervous all of a sudden, I don’t know why I just got nervous.”

Burkart paused. “How are your, uh– do you have all your teeth?”

Smith simply smiled in response, popping out his bridge and flashing it towards the stage.

You can watch the video on Burkart’s Instagram.
