It was by far the new York Islanders worst game in nearly a year. The Islanders were shellacked by the Tampa Bay Lightning 8-0 in a critical Game 5 that has now put them on their heels and their season on the line.
The Islanders were uncharacteristically sloppy and undisciplined, and in a game that they needed to win, they looked listless.
New York has been through its fair share of battles this postseason and on Monday it looked as though it was starting to wear on them as Tampa Bay dominated the Islanders in just about every category, except penalty minutes where they lead with 58.
