Elmont, NY– Call it a pattern, call it a theme, either way, allowing a high volume of shots is becoming a regular occurence for the New York Islanders and it has them trending in the wrong direction.

The latest case came on Saturday night as the Islanders allowed 101 shot attempts to the Carolina Hurricanes in a 4-3 overtime loss at UBS Arena.

“They’re a high-volume shot-attempt team,” Islanders head coach Lane Lambert said of the Hurricanes. “If you look at any game they play, they’ll have a similar amount of attempts. They’ll out-attempt teams by a margin.”

Although, the Hurricanes aren’t the only team that has put up a high quanity of shots against the Islanders.

In their 10 games this season, the Islanders have been outshot in seven of them.
