ELMONT, NY–
“I am surprised,” Roy said. “If you told me after our Anaheim win that we were going to get only one point out of our next 10 points, I would say yes. But this is the league now. Every night, you got to be sharp. You got to compete every night. You got to play at your best because, at this time of the year, everybody’s chasing those points, and it’s no different for us.”
“Unfortunately, it’s the way our season has gone in some ways,” Anders Lee said. “The inconsistency has hurt us. Too many times, we’ve gone through spurts of too many two or three-in-a-row losses. Obviously, now we’re we’re adding them up.”
“You could see in our game how connected we were,” Lee said “How guys were supportive of one another in all three zones. That plays a big part in how we exit our zone, how we control the neutral zone and how we have time in the offensive zone. In the last five games, it hasn’t been as consistent as it needs to be.”
“In the moment, right now, it feels a little deep for sure,” Matt Martin said. “But we were in a pretty big deep hole last year as well. We have 14 games left, and we need as many as we can get. I think it’s just about every single one of us looking inside and seeing what we can do more to impact the game in different ways.”
“Every game matters,” Roy said. “When you’re going home and you think, ‘What could I’ve done today?’ ‘Could I do this?’ ‘Could I do that?’ I think that’s what’s going on right now instead of saying, ‘Hey, let’s do this together.”

Something we’ve struggled with all year, I guess, is just because they get one doesn’t mean they have to get three. It’s disappointing again. Obviously, we’ve run out of words to say.
