The New York Islanders and Boston Bruins will open their Second Round series on Saturday night at TD Garden at 8 p.m. The announcement came a day after the Islanders closed out their series with the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 5-3 win in Game 6.

The rest of the series schedule will be released at a later time, the NHL said in a press release. Saturday’s opening game will air on NBC.

Word on the date and start time for Game 1 started to leak earlier in the day on Thursday. NBC Sources had indicated to NYI Hockey Now and Boston Hockey Now that the Islanders-Boston series would likely start on Saturday or Monday.

TD Garden, the home of the Boston Bruins, is in for a packed weekend with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics squaring off on Friday and Sunday and now the New York-Boston series beginning on Saturday night.
