Yesterday, we dove into the reality of the New Jersey Devils’ current state, and the trajectory of their offseason.

That conversation continued on X, where some debated whether GM Tom Fitzgerald has done a good job or not. For clarity, I chimed in stating I believe he’s done a good job. I added, the job is not finished. There are pieces in New Jersey that he deserves a lot of credit for. Timo Meier, obviously. Johnathan Kovacevic was a diamond in the rough. Luke Hughes was a great draft choice. He solidified the goaltending and blueline. The list goes on.

However, has he addressed some of their most pressing needs to date? We talk about that in the link below.

Elsewhere, Keith Tkachuk pours some cold water on rumors about his youngest son leaving Ottawa. Sidney Crosby deserves his birthday wish, and more.

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

ESPN: Many fans in New Jersey clamor for the Devils to try to acquire Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators. However, Brady’s dad, Keith Tkachuk, squashed those whispers, telling ESPN he’s happy to stay north of the boarder long-term.

Sportsnet: Remember when the Utah Mammoth moved away from the “Yeti” name before they decided on their official mascot? That was in part to avoid confusion and conflict with the Yeti bottle brand. However, the Mammoth decided to take it upon themselves to send a cease-and-desist letter to the Mammoth hockey bag company… Here’s the story.

More SN: Set the filter from UFA to RFA, and there are still a handful of quality players unsigned, including Luke Hughes. Now, Hughes isn’t going anywhere, but there are plenty of others who could as the summer progresses. Here are the top-nine remaining restricted free agents.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Now 38 years old, Sid the Kid’s birthday was yesterday. It’s crazy to think he entered the NHL at just 18 years old, and we’re already at the tail end of his career. Shelly Anderson has witnessed his evolution, and explains why the Pittsburgh Penguins captain deserves to get his birthday wish.
