
New Jersey Devils fans have a reason to watch the NHLs newest YouTube show, NHL Hockey Academy. Star defenseman, Luke Hughes, is one of four NHLers in the new series.
Devils Rink Report: New Jersey Can Do A Lot of Damage, On One Condition
Fans can now access the show on the NHL’s official YouTube channel, launched this week as a free resource for players, coaches, and fans.
The series features step-by-step drills and skill tutorials from NHL players and coaches. Luke Hughes is joined by St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou, Winnipeg Jets forward Cole Perfetti, Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson demonstrating defensive fundamentals including edge work, pivots, and gap control.
Kyrou is the focus of episode one.
“Showcasing some ideas around skill development in the ‘NHL Hockey Academy’ series was a ton of fun,” said Jordan Kyrou of via the NHL release. “Hopefully aspiring hockey players out there can take some of these tips that we use as NHL players and apply them to their work in becoming the best player they can be – both on and off the ice.”
Hosted by former NHL defenseman Jason Demers, the Academy includes nine episodes covering skating, stick handling, shooting, and positioning. All content is available at no cost, with new videos released regularly.
The initiative aims to grow the game by providing professional-level instruction to youth and amateur players worldwide. Devils prospects and local coaches are encouraged to use the playlist in training.
