“This is the headline question, you know?” That’s the first thing New Jersey Devils superstar, Jack Hughes, said when asked about if he wants to play with his brother, Quinn Hughes.

Well, Jack is right. The speculation has run rampant.

Ever since Vancouver Canucks president of hockey operations, Jim Rutherford, explained he knows Quinn Hughes’ desire to play with his brothers last spring, the speculation hasn’t gone away.

In an interview with Pierre LeBrun, posted via X, here’s what Jack said in his part of the NHL Player Media Tour about playing with Quinn.

“This is the headline question, you know?,’’ Jack smiled back.

“Honestly, I’m not afraid to say it. Yeah, I would love for Quinn to — eventually I’d love to play with him. And whether that’s in New Jersey or at what time that takes, at some point I want to play with Quinn. But yeah, that’s the question going around. They talk all day about it up in Vancouver, you know? But yeah I’d love to play with Quinn at some point.”

Right now, the trio has the chance to play together for Team USA at the 2026 Olympics. However, the question was tailored to their time in the NHL, to which Jack couldn’t contain his desires.

Quinn did his best to calm the waters about his uncertain future in Vancouver when he spoke for the first time heading into this season.

However, in the midst of that conversation, he perhaps left things even more concerning for the Vancouver Canucks faithful.

“Who knows what we can do, and who knows how I’ll be feeling this time next year? It’s still a year away,” the Canucks captain said to Sportsnet.

The Hughes brothers are taking up all the oxygen these days. What is the future for Quinn in Vancouver? Can Jack stay healthy and propel the Devils from playoff to championship threat?

And what about that Luke Hughes contract? Perhaps the term of that contract will indicate if the Hughes brothers plan to play together in New Jersey, or elsewhere.

With training camp eight days away, we could get answers sooner than later.
