NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
The Athletic ($): The Edmonton Oilers are certainly not going to come into 2025-26 satisfied with losing in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals. Thus, you could imagine GM Stan Bowman is going to be open to making upgrades early, or throughout the year as it progresses. Here are five candidates that could go the other way in an Oilers trade.
NHL Trade Talk: When the New York Islanders named Matt Martin a special assistant to GM Mathieu Darche, Bo Horvat pleaded with his ex-teammate to remain on Long Island, with the hope he wouldn’t be traded next after Noah Dobson.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Dan Kingerski is already looking ahead to 2025-26 for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He laid out four bold predictions for the Pens, including a few names who will/won’t be traded.
Boston Hockey Now: After the Boston Bruins traded Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. They were left captain-less. According to a report, it will remain that way in 2025-26.
Forever Blueshirts: Henrik Lundqvist never got the closure of a goodbye. He signed with the Washington Capitals in what was supposed to be his final season, however, a heart condition prevented him from playing a single game. Yet, a quick phone call from Rangers GM Chris Drury changed everything, and Lundqvist got his closure from the New York Rangers.
