New Jersey Devils fans have spoken! And the results are not particularly close.

New Jersey Devils Fan Survey: Which Jersey Should Make a Comeback?

We learned a few days ago that the Colorado Avalanche are reviving a classic jersey. Therefore, we decided to poll the voice of the Devils, their fans, to see which jersey they would like to see revived.

It’s one of those conversations you see debated on social media all the time. Fans want fresh, new looks for their favorite players while they continue to rep their team colors.

New Jersey Hockey Now confirmed that the black “Jersey” jersey is making a return in 2025-26. However, many wants to see Jack Hughes in a new black alternate Devils jersey. I’ve even seen inquiries for a creamed color-base, with red and green accent.

New jerseys are always fun. However, the Devils have a decent jersey history, and plenty of threads that they can revive.

The poll results were telling.

Out of nearly 600 votes, which is just a fraction of the fan base, the jersey fans wanted to see revived the least were Kansas City Scouts threads, or modern variation, receiving just 40 votes.

The next least desirable uniform certainly surprised me, however. The 2023 Reverse Retro jersey, coined the “Burger King” jersey, received just 75 votes. Perhaps it makes sense, given the color scheme is an ode to the Scouts look. Yet, I remember at the time the Reverse Retro look being well received. I am a fan of them myself.

Alas, Devils fans want to keep their traditional colors. Whether it be a mix of red, green, white, and/or black, the most popular jerseys were the one’s that aligned with the team being in the Garden State.

The white based Heritage jersey with red and green accents, re-born in 2018, received the next most votes with 78, then the green based Reverse Retro jersey in 2021 received 112 votes, while the red-based heritage jersey with green accents is the second-most desired jersey among voters with 131 votes.

However, when it comes to the jersey fans want to see return most, the majority of the votes went to the Stadium Series threads the Devils wore in 2023 at MetLife Stadium, with 266 votes.

New Jersey Devils

One could certainly understand why the fans want to see the Stadium Series jersey return in some capacity. For starters, the Devils still use the logo silhouette on many of their graphics. Heck, it’s even the logo used for their hashtag on the X social media platform.

However, it’s everything that comes with the Stadium Series jersey in addition to its simple, yet sharp look.

The Stadium Series jerseys keep the black and red color scheme that Devil fans know and love. Add the nostalgia of that night on February 18th, 2023, when the Devils pounced on their rival, the Philadelphia Flyers in a 6-3 win. The memories of tailgating from sunrise to puck drop in the MetLife Stadium parking lot. The concert by the local band, the Jonas Brothers, between periods.

The night even brought us great memories, such as the velour sweat suits the team wore walking into the stadium as a nod to New Jersey’s reputation, to the celebrations on the ice, like when Nathan Bastian scored, and saluted the crowd with an Italian-like hand gesture.

And who could forget when captain, Nico Hischier, who had two goals and three points that night, accidentally cursed on television following the victory in front of 70,328 fans.

“Thanks for showing up, it was f***ing amazing, sorry!” Hischier shouted, and apologized for the remark, in an interview with ESPN.

From the fresh, sharp look the Stadium Series brings, to the memories of that day in February 2023, the Devils’ Stadium Series jersey from two seasons ago wins the fan vote.

Perhaps, with how often we’ve seen the logo stick around in the Devils’ marketing, we will see the jersey revived, or at least a modernized version.
