The whispers of a potential New Jersey Devils trade involving Dougie Hamilton won’t go away. Another tidbit dropped yesterday via one of the more well-known insiders. There’s time here, so don’t expect anything yet, if at all. More on the Hamilton rumors below.

Also below, if Hamilton remains and the season started today, the Devils’ depth chart is… different than last season. But, is it better?

Elsewhere, a major New York Islanders trade rumor, Washington could be big-game hunting, and is there a reunion in Colorado with an ex-forward?

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils Trade Rumors & News

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils made some depth additions and kept a few of their own important pieces in free agency. So, what does their depth chart look like if the season started today?

The Dougie Hamilton whispers continue. This time, Frank Seravalli say’s the Devils have explored the market to see what their potential options might be to move the defenseman. Nothing appears imminent, nor definite. It sounds like just a general inquiry.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

This one certainly raised the eyebrows. According to Seravalli, there were at least some conversations involving the Islanders trading Ilya Sorokin. How serious? That’s unclear. Still happening? We don’t exactly know. But Seravlli say’s they at least did happen before today. It seems inverse from Mathieu Darche’s body of work, however.

Washington Times: Washington Capitals GM Chris Patrick admitted missing out on the big-name free agents. We know he was heavily after Nikolaj Ehlers, and perhaps had a larger offer on the table as opposed to what the Carolina Hurricanes offered. Now, the Capitals are turning their attention to the NHL trade market and could go big game hunting.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Player trade values and coaches. A lot has happening within the Pittsburgh Penguins organization over the last handful of seasons as they try to manage what is seemingly the last few years of the Sidney Crosby era. Dan Kingerski reflects on his predictions, and sheds light on what he got wrong, and what he got right.

Colorado Hockey Now: We still aren’t sure what the Colorado Avalanche are planning to do with their remaining $6.55 million salary cap. One name lingering out there on the NHL trade rumor mill is J.T. Compher. Should the Avs consider a reunion?

Philly Hockey Now: According to Elliotte Friedman, the New York Islanders were willing to package picks 16 & 17 in a trade to the Philadelphia Flyers for pick No.6. However, the Flyers were adamant on drafting Porter Martone. Does the sixth overall pick have a shot at the NHL roster?
