The New York Rangers have climbed their way back into playoff contention after they embarrassed the New York Islanders on home ice. The Philadelphia Flyers remain out of it or the most part, but they also embarrassed their rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The New Jersey Devils could have two less in-division foes to worry about with the deadline approaching as a result.

More on the Isles and Penguins in the links.

In Newark, a Devils trade target is growing more and more expensive.

Elsewhere, Brock Boeser trade destinations, how to replace Matthew Tkachuk (you don’t), Colorado’s trade board 3.0, and Trent Frederic talks NHL trade buzz.

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils News

New Jersey Hockey Now: According to a recent report, Jake Evans–who the Devils have shown interest in–could be hard to pry from the Canadiens. Could GM Tom Fitzgerald, however, figure out how to reel in Evans and one other in a Devils trade?

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Sportsnet: Four trade destinations for Brock Boeser and one of them isn’t the New Jersey Devils? Not sure if I saw that coming, but here we are.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: PHNs Dan Kingerski says enough is enough with the Pittsburgh Penguins‘ pipe dream. It’s time to trade Erik Karlsson while he still has some value and recoup valuable assets to accelerate the retool.

Boston Hockey Now: For the first time in a long time, it looks like the Boston Bruins are going to be sellers at the NHL Trade Deadline. There are a couple of pending free agents who are now dealing with the uncertainty. In fact, Trent Frederic has been linked to the Devils a couple of times throughout the 2024-25 season. So how is the 6-foot-3, 220-lb forward handling the chatter?

Colorado Hockey Now: Since trading Mikko Rantanen, depth scoring has been a bit of an issue for the Colorado Avalanche. Expect them to go big-game hunting by March 7th. Aarif Deen’s NHL Trade Board 3.0 connects lots of the big fish to The Centennial State.

Florida Hockey Now: Unless they can somehow bring Brady to Sunrise (they’re not), no one is replacing Matthew Tkachuk in his absence. But, here’s how the Florida Panthers can try.

NYI Hockey Now: Being embarrassed by their cross-town rival was all NYIHN colleague Russ Macias needed to see. It’s time for the New York Islanders to waive the white flag and sell.
