The World Junior Summer Showcase is underway, and the New Jersey Devils have a few players in the fold. We dive into who is there below, however, one notable omission is Conrad Fondrk. Fondrk was New Jersey’s first pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. However, he was left off of Team USAs roster, despite a superior, although only slightly, skill set. It’s likely Fondrk isn’t wearing the red, white, and blue right now after dealing with a broken fibula this past season.
Elsewhere, Nazem Kadri’s name keeps popping up, is there a reunion in Colorado? And remaining UFAs.
Let’s do that hockey.
Devils Trade Rumors & News
The Devils have a few solid prospects coming through their pipeline, but they’re past their window of owning top-of-the-line players making their way to the NHL. Still, they have a couple of players who are looking to outperform their draft status, such as Ben Kevan and Mason Moe for the USA, and Kasper Pikkarainen for Finland.
USA played in split squad action yesterday. Despite a couple of losses, check out this nifty assist from Kevan.
An amazing release from LJ Mooney makes it 2-1 USA.

Sportsnet: We’ll talk more about him with another team later, but one writer at Sportsnet believes the Devils are a good fit for Nazem Kadri.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Colorado Hockey Now: It’s funny, Nazem Kadri never wanted to leave the Colorado Avalanche. Yet, he departed three summers ago after winning the Stanley Cup when he wasn’t extended a contract offer. Now? Some time has passed, Kadri’s thrown subtle digs publicly about it, and yet the trade chatter doesn’t go away. Some still believe he’s a player the Avalanche may still target.
Philly Hockey Now: One of the big pieces to the future for the Philadelphia Flyers is Jett Luchenko. He sniffed the NHL last season, skating in nine games. After going back to juniors for the remainder of 2024-25, is he ready for a full-time NHL role?
DailyFaceoff: This summer’s free agent class wasn’t the strongest. Most of the top players in the class were all scooped up within the first 24 hours of the free-agent frenzy. However, there are still a few useful players who remain on the open market.
