Boy, things sure did pick up on the second day of September. It seems like there are a few who have returned from their summer cottages, and are getting back on the grind. As for the New Jersey Devils, no returns yet. But, an arrival has been confirmed, as Arseni Gritsyuk has landed in Newark, New Jersey, and we already got our first look at him in Devils gear.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

NHL Insider Frank Seravalli dropped a bomb on Tuesday. The NHL & NHLPA agreed to speed up the timeline for the recently negotiated collective bargaining agreement.

More here:

In short, this has no direct impact on the Devils right now. The Devils and Luke Hughes can continue to negotiate an eight-year contract if they please. But in September 2026, that all goes away, with contracts maxing out at seven, and six in unrestricted free agency.

Otherwise, not mentioned in the post by Frank above, no more paper transactions, and no more double retentions in trades. This is all effective immediately.

Forever Blueshirts: Speaking of talent in the U23 pool, Devils fans will be delighted to know that not a single New York Rangers player was named inside the top-100. That’s, uh, good news for Devils fans as their rivals are a team that could either return to form in 2025-26, or continue to sink.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Well, it sounds like it could be a big week ahead for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Here’s everything PHN is hearing regarding a potential sale, complications they may face, and a potential trade or two that could come to fruition, including Carey Price(?!).

San Jose Hockey Now: This is a big development for the San Jose Sharks. There’s a provision in the new CBA that will allow NHL teams to send one 19-year-old prospect to the AHL, which could land Sam Dickenson in San Jose with the Barracuda this season.

Detroit Hockey Now: He doesn’t want to know this, but Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin is climbing up a list that isn’t necessarily something to hang your hat on.
