NFLPA to investigate Tom Savage concussion

Tom Savage

There might have been some tremendous performances and exciting games during Sunday’s Week 14 NFL action, but one story pretty much overshadowed everything.

In the first half of his team’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans quarterback Tom Savage was on the receiving end of a violent hit from pass rusher Elvis Dumervil.

Immediately after Savage went to the ground, we could see his hands twitching in what was a scary all-around scene. Savage would return to the field minutes later, only to be pulled from the action after another possession. He did in fact suffer a concussion. Check out the entire situation here.

Now, the NFLPA is looking into the situation.

This is not standard operating procedure. If the union itself saw what we saw live, there’s going to be concern within the power hierarchy here.

On a related note, the NFL itself should also be starting an investigation as well. This isn’t the first or second time we’ve seen a similar situation surrounding Savage and the Texans. If the league and union are serious about player safety something needs to change here.
