The Tennessee Titans hired a new head coach last offseason, but aside from signing Mason Rudolph, they didn’t get a new quarterback. Now, Rudolph is set for free agency again, which leaves 2023 second-round pick Will Levis as the only returning quarterback on the Titans roster.
However, the Titans did land the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The only problem is that no quarterback’s widely believed to be worth the top selection in the draft over players like Travis Hunter. The Titans could still prioritize the NFL’s most valuable position and select Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders.
Or, perhaps second-year head coach Brian Callahan prefers getting a proven quarterback in free agency or by trade instead, and the Titans could use the No. 1 overall pick to get there.

NFL personnel think Tennessee Titans could trade No. 1 pick, acquire Sam Darnold

It’s still too early to know what the Tennessee Titans are planning to do with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft once it kicks off on April 24. Yet, that hasn’t stopped some insiders from dishing out some new NFL rumors anyway.
Recently, ESPN’s Dan Graziano revealed that some around the league are monitoring the Titans in case they want to trade the draft’s top pick and focus on adding a proven quarterback like Sam Darnold instead.
“There is still a long way to go until April’s draft and a lot of evaluations to make before then, but I’ve talked to multiple people who think the Titans could trade out of the top pick and look for their QB solution elsewhere. That could mean either another shot for Will Levis or adding young free agent such as Sam Darnold or Justin Fields.

The thinking is that the Titans’ roster needs are so extensive that, unless they’re absolutely sold on one of the quarterbacks as a franchise-changer, they’re better off seeing what teams would be willing to offer for the pick. If they moved back to No. 2 (Browns) or No. 3 (Giants) — or even to No. 6 (Raiders) or No. 7 (Jets) — they could still land a franchise cornerstone player in the first round and be in position to address QB in next year’s draft if necessary.”
While Levis is set to return for another year of development, the Titans will likely consider all avenues in pursuit of building the best roster possible this offseason. If they can solve the QB position elsewhere, it could open up a whole new world of possibilities by the time they’re on the clock in the NFL Draft.
