News broke on Thursday that New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has been hit with a four-game suspension for violating the league’s performance enhancing drugs policy.

Edelman has ties to Tom Brady’s TB12 clinic, and therefore to TB12 trainer Alex Guerrero, who issued a strong statement defending his methods in the wake of this suspension.

Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston shared Guerrero’s statement on Twitter Thursday evening.

Clearly, Guerrero is doing everything he can to distance himself and the TB12 clinic from whatever it was that Edelman ingested that showed up on his test as a banned substance.

It’s worth pointing out that Edelman, who missed all of last season with an ACL injury, is appealing this suspension. Additionally, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, after “hundreds of tests” during his career, Edelman tested positive for the first time.
