Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Reggie Wayne may be playing in his last season with the Colts, and adding one more Super Bowl ring to his collection is definitely a goal.
With his 12th playoff appearance on the horizon, the 14-year veteran sported some awesome work ethic by choosing to practice on New Year’s Eve (via Fox Sports).
New Year’s Eve, I’m saying to myself, Man, when was the last time a (Colts’) season ended before New Year’s Eve? I sat up there and said, Well, it’s either go to a New Year’s Party or go practice football. I’d rather practice football.
Through his 14-year career, the 36-year-old has never been the type of guy to take practices off which makes him a deeply respected member of the team and someone to admire. While Wayne doesn’t appear to be ready to retire anytime soon, a contract that is close to expiring may force the future Hall of Famer from the Colts organization following this season.
Wayne surprisingly made it back to the playing field after injuring his ACL in 2013. And while he was off to a fairly solid start in 2014, a triceps injury he suffered in October has kept him limited ever since. While we’ll expect to see Wayne give it his all against the Cincinnati Bengals in the wild card playoff this weekend, there’s no denying Wayne’s numbers are the lowest he has ever put up.
