It looks like first-rounder Rashaad Penny won’t have to miss much time for his surgically repaired broken finger, after all.
The Seattle Seahawks rookie running back was back in pads on Tuesday, and head coach Pete Carroll said Penny would “for sure” be playing in the September 9 opener against the Denver Broncos.

Penny injured his hand last Monday during practice, but Carroll said the running back could return to game action as soon as the team’s final preseason game.

This is really encouraging news. Penny needs all the reps he can get in order to make a big impact for the Seahawks this year. So far, it’s clear he has work to do in pass protection, and his first preseason game was nothing to shout about.
