The New England Patriots are heading into the 2018 season with a patchwork group of players at wide receiver for Tom Brady.
Having traded Brandin Cooks during the offseason and with Julian Edelman suspended for the first four games, things didn’t look great heading into camp. Now that free agent acquisition Jordan Matthews is on injured reserve, that’s magnified further.
It was noted earlier this week that New England worked out veteran wide receiver Eric Decker. It now looks like said workout went well. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, New England is signing the 31-year-old pass catcher to a one-year contract.
Patriots expected to sign former Titans’, Jets’ and Broncos’ WR Eric Decker to a one-year deal, per sources.
And it’s neither here nor there, but is there now a better looking QB-WR combo in the NFL than Tom Brady and Decker?

Decker is coming off a 2017 campaign with the Tennessee Titans that saw him put up 54 receptions for 563 years. He’s a few years removed from tallying 1,000-plus yards three times in four seasons.
This is seemingly the perfect fit. Decker had become known for making the contested catch on intermediate routes. With Edelman out for the first quarter of the season, he should be able to fill that role pretty well.
