Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill seemingly publicly requested a trade following the team’s season-ending loss to the New York Jets. A month later, the All-Pro offensive weapon walked back his “I’m out” comments and said he wanted to remain in Miami. It might no longer matter.

Hill, who turns 31 on March 1, is coming off his worst season since his rookie year in 2016. Playing injured in 17 games, he finished under 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2019 and averaged under 12 yards per catch for the first time in Miami.

  • Tyreek Hill stats (ESPN): 81 receptions, 959 receiving yards, 6 touchdowns

In the team’s regular-season finale, he took himself off the field and then told reporters he wanted out. He walked back those comments weeks later, citing “frustration” as a competitor. He also made it clear to team officials privately that he wanted to return to Miami next season. It might no longer be his choice.

According to Armando Salguero and Gates Garcia of Outkick.com, the Dolphins organization might be willing to entertain trade offers on Hill. Multiple NFL executives shared that if another club is willing to offer “multiple high-round draft picks” for Hill, Miami could pull the trigger on a deal.

However, it remains a question whether or not any team would be willing to trade multiple premium draft picks for Hill. He carries a $28.698 million cap hit in 2025 and based on his current contract structure – $36.333 million savings if released in 2026 – would likely be viewed as a one-year rental.

Hill’s value is at an all-time low right now, too. While he is just a year removed from consecutive 1,700-yard seasons, the reports of him quitting on the team mid-game and concerns over declining effectiveness would limit what a team is willing to give up for him. Because of that and the financial ramifications of trading him, it still seems unlikely as of now that Miami will move him.
