Sean McVay’s offensive brilliance and veteran Matthew Stafford make the Los Angeles Rams dangerous. With Cooper Kupp gone, receiver Puka Nacua and running back Kyren Williams will be the offensive stars. Although they lack depth, the Rams have the pieces to be a great team this season and could go on an unlikely playoff run to shock the world.

No rookie quarterback has ever started a Super Bowl game, but Washington’s Jayden Daniels was one win away from accomplishing that feat. On paper, there was no chance that the Commanders should have gone as far as they did last year, and the same argument could be made for the upcoming season. But with Daniels leading the offense, he’s already proven that nobody can put a ceiling on what this team can accomplish.

The Cincinnati Bengals finished last season red hot, winning their final five games. However, they did not make the playoffs. When healthy, the Bengals have one of the most unstoppable offenses in the league with the dynamic duo of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. The problem, of course, is the Bengals’ defense, which has proven to be among the worst in the league. But Burrow can simply outscore opponents, as he finished first in yards and touchdowns for quarterbacks last season. Cincinnati’s offensive upside gives them a shot to win every game they play.

7. Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love has quickly emerged as a legitimate franchise quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, and they have a prolific offense with Josh Jacobs out of the backfield. While they lack some pieces on defense, there is no denying the potential this group has. They put up a fight against the eventual champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round last season, and with another year of experience under his belt, there’s a chance Love could get over the playoff hump.

6. San Fransisco 49ers

With statistically the easiest regular season schedule in the league, there is no doubt the San Francisco 49ers will be back in the playoffs after a disappointing season. While they lack the same depth they had during their 2023 Super Bowl appearance, if Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk return from their injuries without losing a step, they will be a huge threat in the NFC for another year.

After an outstanding regular season, the top-seeded Detroit Lions had a disappointing playoff showing, losing to the Commanders in the Divisional Round. They have all the pieces to win it this year, with immense talent on both sides of the ball. They are arguably the most talented team in the league, but are yet to prove they can win when it matters come playoff time. The return of Aidan Hutchinson from injury should help, so the Lions will be a marquee team to monitor as they try to bounce back from coming up short.

4. Kansas City Chiefs

Given that the Kansas City Chiefs have made the Super Bowl in five of the last six seasons, winning three of them, it feels wrong to count out Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. Their playoff success and consistency is undeniable, which makes it wrong to say they won’t have a shot once again. But Travis Kelce is slowing down, and while still productive, he’s no longer as dominant week to week. Their wide receiver room is still unproven and has dealt with inconsistency, putting an overbearing burden on Mahomes. But if anyone can carry a team, it’s Mahomes, so nobody would be shocked to see this team make another run.

3. Buffalo Bills

Led by last year’s MVP Josh Allen at quarterback and a top-tier defense, there is no argument against the Buffalo Bills being a legitimate contender. Plain and simple, they are among the elite teams in the league. But the Bills have an issue come playoff time that they seemingly cannot fix: Mahomes. The Bills have lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs four of the past five seasons, with two of those losses coming in the AFC Championship Game.

With Lamar Jackson as your quarterback and Derrick Henry out of the backfield, anything less than a Super Bowl appearance is disappointing. With a top roster on both sides of the ball, the Baltimore Ravens came up just short, losing to the Bills by two points in the Divisional Round last season in heartbreaking fashion. Baltimore has everything it needs to win this year’s Super Bowl, but similar to Buffalo’s issue with the Chiefs, they just need to execute when it truly matters.

The reigning Super Bowl champions only got better this offseason. The Eagles addressed their need at linebacker by selecting Jihaad Campbell in the first round, and have a well-rounded roster with stars on both sides of the ball. Saquon Barkley, the engine of the offense, will look to build on his historic season out of the backfield, and if he stays healthy, the Eagles could be unstoppable.
