NFL Draft rumors: Tennessee Titans’ asking price to trade for No. 1 pick revealed

The Tennessee Titans have the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, putting the quarterback-needy franchise in an interesting position. With no elite passer available this year, there have been plenty of NFL Draft rumors about the No. 1 selection being traded. If a team wants it, there’s a huge asking price to pay.

Tennessee snagged the first overall pick late last season. Thanks to late-season victories by the New York Giants (Dec. 29) and the New England Patriots (Jan. 5), Tennessee landed the top selection. Complicating matters, however, is the 2025 draft class.

Entering the pre-draft process, Miami Hurricanes’ Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward and Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders were viewed as the top two quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, Sanders’ stock has slid a bit and Ward still isn’t viewed as a surefire talent worth the top pick.

Tennessee could take one of the top two prospects in this class – edge rusher Abdul Carter or two-way player Travis Hunter – but it’s also considering a trade-down. If another club wants the No. 1 overall pick, though, it comes at a steep cost.

During an appearance on 102.5 The Game, senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports said that the Titans are seeking three first-round picks “or something of that value” for the first overall pick.

It’s a demand that no one in the NFL is likely to meet. Even if a team believes Ward is a franchise-caliber quarterback or if it views Hunter as a true two-way player in the NFL, no general manager will be willing to move three first-round picks for the top selection.

Tennessee will likely lower its demands closer to the 2025 NFL Draft, but there remains a growing belief that it will select Ward with the No. 1 pick. The Titans’ offseason moves all suggest the framework is being put in place to support a rookie quarterback and Ward at least offers high upside. Given the club’s asking price to trade down, it’s even less likely now that a trade-up is coming.
