NFL rumors: Insider reveals offer that shows New York Giants desperation to sign Aaron Rodgers

A new report from a top NFL insider reveals just how desperate the New York Giants are to sign future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Giants have been very busy over the first week of NFL free agency. The team had a solid chunk of money to use on the open market and have addressed several needs, including in the secondary by signing Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland. However, they have yet to address their biggest question mark: Quarterback.

New York has the third overall pick in next month’s NFL Draft and speculation has been they will use it to select either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. But reports for weeks pointed to a desire to add a veteran, and that is why they went hard to trade for Matthew Stafford.

After failing to land the Rams legend, all signs point to a strong pursuit of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. The two sides reportedly have had positive conversations in recent days, and a new report reveals details on the pitch they made to him and their desperation to win the Rodgers sweepstakes.

“He has two strong options. He has the New York Giants, who have expressed interest. And essentially told him they want him to be their guy,” Ian Rapoport said on NFL Network this week. “He has the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are in the same situation. I get a sense it’s going to come down to money. .. It comes down to whose team he wants to be quarterback of and that seems to be holding up everything right now.”

  • Aaron Rodgers stats (2024): 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 90.5 passer rating

Pretty much guaranteeing he will be the starter next season shows how desperate they are to be far better than the 3-14 team they were in 2024. And they should be. Head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen’s jobs are on the line this year. But there are still big risks in relying on a QB a couple of years removed from a major injury and who will be 42 years old in December.
