With the firing of offensive coordinator Jason Garrett on Tuesday, Freddie Kitchens will take over the play-calling duties when the New York Giants face the (5-6) Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Unfortunately for Kitchens and the Giants, they might without one of their most explosive playmakers as Kadarius Toney is listed as doubtful with a quad injury. Toney was unable to practice all week and considering Kitchens will implement new plays to the offense, it seems unlikely we’ll see the rookie receiver this Sunday.
Toney had previously battled an ankle injury that caused him to miss the Giants 25-3 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 7. Now it seems as if New York will be without him again on Sunday.
Despite getting off to a slow start to the season, he leads the Giants in receptions (35) and receiving yards (392).
If Toney is unable to play on Sunday with will be a huge blow to the offense as Sterling Shepard will miss his third straight game with a quad injury, and Saquon Barkley (ankle) and John Ross (quad) are listed as questionable.
Kitchens has a tall task on his hands trying to improve New York’s 28th ranked offense. Not only will they likely be without their best receiver, but they’re playing on a short week against a bitter rival that has defeated them eight out of the last ten meetings.
If Toney can’t go on Sunday, look for Kenny Golladay to be the focal point of New York’s passing game against an Eagles defense that is giving up 231 yards per game through the air.
