Apparently the National Football League isn’t prepared to support an appeals process that would be fair to Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Peterson has been suspended by the NFL for the remainder of the year after pleading guilty in the child abuse case that has caused the future Hall of Famer to miss all but one game this season.

Unfortunately for Peterson, he’s going to have to take part in an appeal that will be overseen by a former NFL executive in Harold Henderson, who is on the league’s payroll with an ongoing salary in the millions (via ESPN.com).

This comes on the heels of the NFLPA requesting that Henderson recuse himself from the case. A request that was quickly denied by the former league executive.

This is different from the Ray Rice appeal in that there won’t be an independent body looking over the Peterson case. And yes, it’s yet another example of the double standards that seem to be creating an unfair situation for players around the NFL.
