Going viral is good for social media accounts. Just ask Bill Belichick’s dog, Nike, who took the 2020 NFL Draft by storm and now has thousands of followers on Instagram.

Nike rises: The big moment

During the draft, right after the New England Patriots made their first selection — a shocker all by itself — the broadcast went to Belichick’s home where he was doing the draft from what appeared to be his kitchen table.

Instead of Belichick sitting there, it was Nike in the chair staring at the computers — setting the NFL world into a frenzy on social media.

Nike’s Instagram account blew up

Appearing on “The Adam Schefter Podcast” this week, Belichick’s girlfriend Linda Holliday shared that the Instagram account set up for Nike has absolutely blown up since that viral moment.

“Nike went from 1,000 followers to about 10,000 followers,” Holliday told Schefter, “and my phone was just blowing up.”

Since then, Nike has gained even more followers. At this time, there are more than 16,000 people following the account. And honestly, it’s not hard to see why.
