49ers Already Talking About the Seahawks Matchup

It didn’t take long after the San Francisco 49ers closed the door on their Week 12 victory before they were being asked about their upcoming Thanksgiving night matchup against the division rival Seattle Seahawks. After coach Jim Harbaugh declared that his coaching staff would be working Sunday night to prepare for this week’s game, some 49ers players shared their comments (via the team’s official website).

Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick

We’re just taking it one game at a time. Trying to make sure we win the next one.

Safety, Antoine Bethea

When Thursday comes, it is go-time so (our rookies will) have to be ready.

Linebacker, Chris Borland

I think the coaches (studied Seattle) over the bye week, but us players, I speak for myself and a few others, just prepare for each team each week.

Linebacker, Aldon Smith

I don’t have as many hits on my body as the guys who have been playing. So hopefully that comes into play on Thursday.

Left Tackle, Joe Staley

Yeah, it’s going to be an exciting game. We’ve been playing Thursday night games every season, so it’s nothing new; we know how to prepare. It’s all about recovery from this game and moving forward. We’ll get in tomorrow, watch film, put this one to bed and move on to Seattle. It’s a big game.

Cornerback, Perrish Cox

Every year we know it’s going to be a fight. It’s going to be a fight to the end. As long as we keep playing like we’re playing, now our confidence is always there and we’re going to go into that game with a lot of confidence.

Running Back, Carlos Hyde

I know about rivalries. I played against the team up north. But I don’t think anything would amount up to that game. I know about rivalry games. I know this is a huge game coming up for us. This is a conference game, so we definitely need this one. We’re about to get ready for it.

This Thursday’s Thanksgiving game between the NFC West rivals has the 49ers and the Seahawks starting on even ground as both teams are currently 7-4 and tied for second in the division. Only one team will prevail and inch one step closer to a playoff appearances. On the other hand, the loser will be behind the proverbial eight-ball in both the conference and the division.

So, who will come out with a victory and which team will look like a bunch of turkeys after this major rivalry game? Here are some of the comments already floating about social media.

This looks like a vote for the 49ers.

Perhaps the outcome doesn’t matter if neither makes it to the playoffs anyway.

Vegas odds favoring San Francisco just slightly.

Can San Francisco, who has only allowed six rushing scores all season, keep Marshawn Lynch contained? Will either quarterback be able to maintain a solid passing attack against their opposing defenses? Currently the the Seahawks defense allows the second-fewest passing yards while San Francisco’s limits opposing quarterbacks to the third-fewest passing yards.

And, the burning question; will we see another famous Michael Crabtree/Richard Sherman pairing? We all remember how badly that ended last year when the Seahawks prevailed in the last seconds of their divisional playoff game. Note that we have no comments from Crabtree shown above.

We shall see how this one turns out in just a few short days when the San Francisco 49ers welcome the Seattle Seahawks to Levi’s on Thanksgiving night.
