Multiple NFL teams already increased season ticket prices significantly for 2023

As the National Football League wraps up a 2022 season that saw the league enjoy record-setting revenue once again, NFL fans can start preparing for the cost of season tickets to increase significantly in 2023.

Prices for season tickets have risen steadily over the years, even as the league continues to receive new sources of revenue each season. As the NFL salary cap explodes with all 32 clubs expected to spend a considerable amount of money in free agency and on contract extensions, fans will need to spend even more to see their favorite teams.

The New England Patriots announced this week that they will be increasing the prices of their season-ticket plans for the 2023 seas. While it’s the first hike in prices in over a decade, one season-ticket holder told WCVB 5 that the percentage of the increase seems to reflect the long reprieve of increased ticket prices.

“It’s a large increase. Nineteen to 20 percent is a lot of money. It sounds like they kind of kicked it in overdrive and tried to make up for the previous 10 years by giving to it all at once.”

While the Patriots remain one of the most successful franchises in NFL history, the product on the field has taken a step back in recent years. New England hasn’t won a playoff game since the 2018 season and the last postseason game at Gillette Stadium (Jan. 4, 2020) ended in a 20-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Tom Brady’s final game with the Patriots.

New England isn’t the only franchise increasing prices for season tickets in 2023. The Buffalo Bills announced that the organization is raising its prices for season tickets by an average of 12% for next season.

“While the price has gone up, the value proposition is that season tickets are now more desirable than ever.”

It likely won’t be the last price increase implemented by the Bills. When Highmark Stadium is replaced with the new $1.4 billion stadium opening in 2026, fans can expect season-ticket prices and even the cost of single-game tickets to climb.

Other NFL franchises are expected to announce their 2023 season ticket plans in the weeks ahead. Based on the moves made by the Bills and Patriots, fans across the league should prepare to pay a lot more for tickets next season.
